Kinesiology

What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology, in its simplest form, is a way of listening to the body.

Many people know kinesiology through manual muscle testing (MMT), a gentle, hands-on technique used to observe how the nervous system is responding in real time. When the body experiences stress—whether physical, emotional, chemical or energetic—it can subtly influence the way a muscle responds. Rather than measuring strength, muscle testing helps us understand how your body is adapting and where it may need support.

How We Use Kinesiology at Soul Care

Like a hammer in the hands of different trades, the tool itself may be the same—but how it's used can vary greatly.

Within chiropractic care, manual muscle testing can help assess movement, alignment and nervous system function. From a more holistic kinesiology perspective, it can also explore deeper patterns, including emotional stress and energetic imbalances.

At Soul Care, we embrace both approaches. Each practitioner uses muscle testing in a way that reflects their training and clinical style, allowing your care to be tailored to what your body needs in that moment.

At its heart, kinesiology is about listening. Your body is constantly communicating, and muscle testing is one of the ways we learn to understand what it's telling us.

Techniques We Use

At Soul Care, kinesiology is woven into care in a way that feels natural and personalised to each practitioner.

Many of our team use muscle testing alongside techniques such as:

Applied Kinesiology (AK)

Using manual muscle testing to assess structural, chemical, and emotional imbalances.

Neural Organisational Technique (NOT)

Supporting the body's neurological reflexes and helping restore balance throughout the nervous system.

Neuro Emotional Technique (NET)

Helping identify and release unresolved emotional stress held within the nervous system.
